After a 6 month break, I am back to review what happened during the year, my 2021 retrospective and to set some goals for 2022.
I’ve been doing these retrospectives for many years now, and it is something I really enjoy doing. It is a fun way to see how unrealistic my goals were, or to realize that I actually managed to achieve a few without even noticing. Regarding to this year that is now ending, I know it was a absolute fiasco. Oh well….
2021 Retrospective
The only reliable way to do a retrospective is with proper set goals. And that’s exactly what I did last year. 2021 was a year filled with surprises and disappointments for many people, and sadly I wasn’t the exception…
But looking back at the goals I had for 2021…
Travel!
Well, what a disappointment! I did travel twice, and one of those times was to Portugal. The trip more than last year… At least this time I went to Mallorca for the first time, and it was a quite interesting experience. It wasn’t the first time “I was in Mallorca”, since I had a layover at Palma de Maiorca’s airport when I lived in Germany, but this time I actually visited the island!
Back to be more active on Instagram
This goal really took a 180º turn…, I decided to create a new account just for travels (where I haven’t shared anything yet, goal for 2022) and I turned my current account into private. This for personal reasons, but I thought it would be a nice challenge to start from zero and see where I could reach. Even though I was more active on my account until I turned it into private.
Relax with blogging
Surprisingly I achieved two goals here. I said I wanted to relax with blogging, however I kept a strict routine until May. That’s when I decided I needed to take a break, I really needed to relax. I thought I would write articles on a more passed way, but it was a full stop until today.
However I also said I wanted to write at least 20 articles, and with this retrospective and its translation I achieved the exact amount of 20 articles!
Guest articles
Zero, absolutely nothing. I didn’t invite anyone, I didn’t organize anything. Also because I thought it wouldn’t be interesting to have guest articles when few people are back to normality. Maybe another time…
Goals for 2022
Looking at the list of failures above, I guess I should be a bit more conservative with my goals for next year. But lets look at them…
Boost the new Instagram account
Since I created a new account, I will start using it! The goal is to use photos of travels I did, some over 10 years ago, but always with a background story. Something alike “micro-blogging” on instagram. It is something I was already doing on my old account, and something I actually enjoy doing, sharing a story with a photo.
Back at blogging, but without a calendar
Yes, I want to go back into blogging. It is a hobby I enjoy, and simply that, a hobby. I don’t make absolutely any money from blogging, but I like to share some stories.
Something else I also want to start sharing is world recipes. Travel isn’t just taking photos in far away countries, but it is also to eat! And local food, of course! I love cooking, and I love trying new recipes, therefore the goal is to share here a few recipes every now and then.
Travel!
Ah ah! Yes, this comes back to the goals! I need overcome the fear of travel, and not let the pandemic take over my life as it has so far. I won’t set any specific goal regarding travel, but it is something I will have to do more in 2022. It was hard to set a goal like this one while we are going through a pandemic that keeps changing our lives almost on a daily basis.
And these are all my goals. Only three, possible to achieve, but not measurable. I am failing with this last part, but it is also to avoid committing too much.
How about you? Which goals do you have for 2022?
