Dresden is a city I love, I lived there for 11 months while I was in Erasmus. When I decided to move to Dresden I didn’t even had a clue about the city. I simply wanted to live in Germany, without any city in mind. The only research I did before moving there was to check for city maps. I was amazed by what I first saw, a gorgeous city!
Germany was the first country where I lived abroad, it was an unique experience which I mentioned countless times in this blog. And also one experience that changed me as a person, and contributed deeply to my passion for traveling.
I didn’t know much about this country before I moved there, in fact, I haven’t even searched anything about the city. Moving to a city and a country that I knew very few of was a quite unlike adventure for the 24 years old me. Though, that experience was the gateway for other travels, even to get to explore my own country.
Those who lived abroad know well how a city or a country can brand us for ever. With good and not so good memories, it is always a step towards outside of our comfort zone. For me, Germany was that first step, and the first time I lived outside my Portugal, and the first time I had to learn how to be absolutely independent. Over 10 years passed since that adventure, and in those 10 years a lot happened, but Germany… Those memories are here very close to my heart, and to keep them here!
