Portimão 2011!

After several years, I returned to Portimão to visit a childhood friend! I am really the worst 😛 It’s so close and I took so long to visit her again…, well, better late than never 🙂

Portimão isn’t Vegas, but I also won’t share any details about my stay there 😛 Only about the traveling and touristic part 🙂

In resume, it was the first time I went to a beach in Algarve…, it could be worst…, I never been to Castelo de São Jorge and I live just 3kms away… Regarding the beach, it is really great! I have been in Greece for a while and I though they have paradisiacal beaches, guess what? We also have them in Portugal 😀 Now I understand why Algarve has so many “camones” (don’t ask what this is :P), we really have a great weather, beaches, landscapes and…, highways 🙁

But Portimão isn’t only about beaches and great esplanade by the see, the city itself is great, clean and we can feel that life goes slower comparing with other cities, or maybe I thought that way because I was the tourist over there 😛 In my opinion, besides the beaches the sardine’s museum really is worth the visit! It was a great surprise for me, maybe also because we had a great guide, but the museum been small shows a lot about what the city used to be. It’s funny how the economy changes people’s lifestyle, what used to be a fishermen village is now a touristic city 🙂

I don’t know what else should I write about the city and the surrounding areas, I just know that I should return again and for a longer period…, let’s hope I don’t take that long again as I did since last time…
